Who is going to be a part of your team, or who are you going to reach out to for help? Where is what you are trying to do taking place? When will you do what you need to do?
In answering these questions, you must be specific, provide a clear picture and hold yourself and others accountable. The more you narrow your goal, the more you’ll understand the steps necessary to achieve it.
Measurable: Here, you ask yourself the questions: How will you measure what you are doing? How will you assess your achievement? What evidence will prove you’re making progress towards your goal?
You might measure progress by the number of management positions you’ve applied for and the number of interviews you applied for. Setting milestones along the way will allow you to re-evaluate when needed.
Attainable: How can you use the tools that you have to achieve your goal? If not, what do you need? Can you attain or reach your set target, whether in your work or organization?
Before you begin working towards your goal, you must decide whether it’s something you can achieve now or whether there are additional preliminary steps you should take to become better prepared.
Relevant: Can you meet the goals that you are setting for yourself? Are they realistic? Why is the goal important to you? Will achieving it help you contribute to your long term goals?

Time-based: What is the timeline that you have set to meet your goals? Is it timely?
